Sometimes Parents Get Tired

Tonight I’m tired. After a winter storm system passed through the Southeast last evening and night, God graciously answered a prayer to let the freezing rain turn into regular rain to wash away the ice. I awoke this morning to a set of clear roads in our area. After a good breakfast, David and I left for Atlanta to meet with godly man #45, Nathan Ridgeway. We planned to make the … Read entire article »

52 Godly Men Featured on NotablePeople.org

Recently, I had the pleasure of conversing with Andrea Schwartz, a homeschooling Mom who runs several websites for the purpose of encouraging others to fulfill their God-given calling. Andrea learned about the 52 Godly Men project from the Molotov Mitchell video and invited me to be one of her guests on NotablePeople.org. Andrea has been active in Christian education for almost three decades, most importantly by successfully home educating … Read entire article »

Preparing for the Hunt and the Value of Freedom
Many of the appointments within this project have been one day affairs. I drive my son to meet with the man, they spend time together, and I pick my son up again. The hunt was a bit more involved. My brother-in-law, who graciously agreed to take David hunting, gave me a good overview of what would be required several months in advance. This allowed ample time to mentally and physically prepare for the Junior Hunt weekend. The biggest commitment on David’s part was to work through the online hunting course. We chose this route rather than the classroom format due to scheduling, travel and time logistics and sheer convenience. Still, with multiple family members being involved in sports, music, art and church activities, it was still daunting enough. My job involved staying … Read entire article »

Reflections: Halfway Through This Project

A few Saturdays back, David spent time with godly man #26 which means that we are halfway through this project. So, it’s time for some parental reflection on what this journey has meant. What has this meant for me and for my son? For me, it has involved a lot of phone calls and e-mails. As you can imagine, compiling a list and checking it twice, calling to find out who’s naughty and nice … oh, … Read entire article »

Remember, Daddy Loves You

A Poem to My Children When you have more friends than you can count on two hands, Remember, Daddy loves you. When you feel that you have more enemies than fans, Remember, Daddy loves you. When you feel so much joy that you just want to shout, Remember, Daddy loves you. When you’re sad and blue and feel down and out, Remember, Daddy loves you. When the grades have come in and you’re making all As, Remember, Daddy loves you. When the answers you miss put … Read entire article »
