Week 10: Packing Pills

When asked what a pharmacist does, most people will reply, “he fills up bottles with pills, he puts labels on the bottles, he takes prescriptions, etc.” Truth is, though, that is only a small part of the life of a pharmacist, as I learned today while I was with Terry Forshee, owner of Cherokee pharmacy in Cleveland and an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. After dad had introduced me to him and vice versa, I started by … Read entire article »

Week 9: Managing a Church

Is it possible for a Florida fan and a Tennessee fan to peaceably eat lunch together? Apparently yes, because that is what I did today. I got the pleasure of spending some time with the associate pastor of my church, Jason Browning. He is arguably the biggest Gators fan in the state of Tennessee. I had seen him preach occasionally (those are my favorite Sundays), but I had never actually spent time talking with him … Read entire article »

However, because God worked a miracle in his life, I actually had a very pleasant day with Bill Stockham. That’s what I got to experience today while I was with Coach Dudley Lytle, also known as ‘Grandpa’. We started off by watching a DVD of both NFL and college players kicking … Read entire article »

Week 6: Reaching Children

I have always envisioned the job of a children’s pastor. He drives to work, spends a few hours on his sermon, talks with a few parents, and then goes back home. Actually, probably the biggest lesson I learned while with Pastor Chris Knipp was that I couldn’t have been more wrong. The main thing we did today was to work on setting up the program for Resurrection Sunday, since it is just around the corner, but … Read entire article »

Week 5: Relieving Body Pains

Today I met with Lindsay Hathcock, a local chiropractor. He is a very nice person, and he cares a lot about others. I arrived at his office at about 10 a.m., and after checking some stuff on his computer, he showed me around the workplace. In one of the rooms sat a hydrotherapy bed, which is basically a flat bed with water jets inside. They sometimes use it to help with arthritis problems in the … Read entire article »
