Week 51: Lord Of The Ring

Week 51: Lord Of The Ring

Well, over the course of my journey, I’ve met with a whole lot of men I know and see every now and then, but there has been one main guy in particular whom I see every week and haven’t met with yet. That man is my youth pastor. But today, I finally got to see the inner workings of one of the more crazy jobs in this universe, the job of Jared Waldrop, youth pastor. … Read entire article »

What Other Families Do For Fun

Yesterday we were invited for a dinner appointment and then asked to attend a church service at a local fellowship here in town.  The special Saturday night service featured the Wissmann Family from Nebraska.  Having never seen nor heard them, our family was delighted to sit and listen to close to two hours of gospel music — bluegrass style — played by many of the members of this homeschooled family of 13 children.  (Wow! right?) Each family member with them was involved at some point in the evening, all the way down to the youngest daughter who belted out “God Bless America.”  It was neat to see another family using their talents to glorify God, have fun and bless others at the same time.  The world needs more good examples, right? He knows his numbers, that’s for sure, and he also knows a lot about life too, and how to live true to yourself and to others. Dudley … Read entire article »

Week 48: Helping Hands

Week 48: Helping Hands

Most of the adults who will read this have a normal job. By normal I mean one in which you show up, get your paycheck once a month, and go home. However, for the man I met with today, Greg Beeley, that routine is a bit different. He goes to work yes, but going to work doesn’t include getting a paycheck. You see, Greg works for a non-profit organization that he founded, which provides information … Read entire article »

Week 47: Planning For The Future

Week 47: Planning For The Future

I have heard that teens, especially ones my age, live only for today. They don’t save, they don’t plan, and their only worry is whether or not they’ll eat lunch. Now I admit, I haven’t looked into getting a college scholarship for myself yet, and I’m not exactly sure where I’ll be six years from tomorrow, but I did learn a lot today about setting long-term goals, and making them happen, because I spent a … Read entire article »
